π What is the Tech200?
The Tech200 is an annual list published by Tussell and techUK, the UK's technology trade association.
The list features the 200 fastest-growing technology suppliers in the UK public sector.
This is based on their direct public sector revenue growth between the last two full fiscal periods (FY22/23 - FY23/24).
The list is intended to be a purely fact-based, unbiased analysis of the fastest-growing tech suppliers, completely uninfluenced by any sponsors or the interests of individual companies or organisations.
"techUK and Tussell's annual Tech200 Awards is an excellent opportunity to spotlight some of the UK's most innovative up-and-coming technology suppliers. It's fantastic to see so many techUK members feature in this year's list."
Heather Cover-Kus
Head of Programme (Central Government)
π How does the Tech200 work?
We identified the fastest-growing technology suppliers in the UK public sector using publicly available procurement invoice data, via Tussell's market intelligence platform.
We calculated which 200 firms saw the highest percentage growth in direct public sector revenue between the last two full fiscal periods: FY22/23 - FY23/24.
Only suppliers with at least Β£100,000 of direct public sector revenue in FY22/23 were included. Several criteria were used to define and capture 'technology' suppliers, and each entrant has been manually checked before being included on the list.
For a full methodology, please refer to the Tech200 FAQ & Methodology section on the Tech200 Homepage.

π± The vast majority of the Tech200 are SMEs
165 of the Tech200 (or 83%) are Small & Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).
This isn't entirely surprising - smaller businesses are more likely to experience significant growth over a short period.
All of the 10 fastest-growing Tech200 members were SMEs.
This included this year's number #1 fastest-growing tech supplier: Burendo.
Burendo is an IT consultancy firm based in Leeds. Burendo experienced a staggering 2,789% growth in direct public sector revenue, following a surge in direct revenue from the UK Health Security Agency.
The fastest-growing non-SME was Ping Identity, a US-based identity management specialist that posted 857% of direct UK public sector revenue growth between FY22/23 and FY23/24, ranking 11th overall.
π» IT consultancies are the largest sub-sector
We classified 49 Tech200 members (or just under 25%) as being 'IT Consultancies'
Since 2022, IT consultancy has consistently remained the largest sub-sector in each Tech200 list.
This is a testament to the public sector's enduring need for external tech experts to maintain and improve their IT systems.
Healthtech specialists make up the second-largest demographic, at 34 companies (17%). This isn't entirely surprising given the growing momentum towards digitally upgrading the NHS's ageing IT systems.
"We're delighted to receive this ranking. It shows our commitment to the public sector's needs and our ability to enact change and improve security with cloud platform engineering."
Jay Keshur
Cofounder and COO, Appvia (9th place)
π€ Only a handful of AI specialists made the list
Despite significant advances in the AI in recent years, only 8 out-and-out specialist AI firms made the latest Tech200.
This could be for several reasons.
For one, it takes time for general market excitement and advances to filter into the day-to-day procurement processes.
The period covered by this year's list - FY22/23 to FY23/24 - means it simply won't yet reflect the public sector's recent interest in adopting AI solutions.
For a live view of UK public sector AI procurement market, head to Tussell's AI Procurement Tracker.
Moreover, many Tech200 companies may have generated direct revenue from AI-related products or services across the period covered - however, if AI solutions only represent a part of their broader business offering, they wouldn't be classified as AI specialists under our definition.
πΊοΈ A quarter of the Tech200 are based outside England
For the first time, we've logged where each of the new Tech200 companies are headquartered.
150 Tech200 companies are headquartered in England.
The USA comes next at 21, followed by Scotland (7), Wales (6), Israel (2), France (2) and Spain (2).
The remainder are spread across the globe, with representation from Austria, Bulgaria, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Taiwan.
The 3rd highest-ranking supplier, SaaS provider MCB Software Services, is based in Romania.
"Iβm thrilled that i10 has been recognised in the Tech200 list of fastest-growing technology companies. This achievement reflects the dedication and talent of our team and the power of our ecosystem approach, highlighting the benefits of collaboration in making a difference to our clients. Thank you, Tussell and TechUK."

Founder and CEO, i-10 Limited (38th place)
